What’s up with all the trash?

Posted by Smitty on Sep 19, 2011

Everywhere I go I see trash! It’s horrible! What has gotten into our society that makes us think littering is OK? It’s like it has become acceptable or something.

Soda cans and beer bottles, cigarette butts, fast food wrappers, cups and bags, shopping carts, car tires, appliances…you name it, it will end up on our streets.

To us here at AmeriGobble, this is a serious symptom of the cultural decay that is eating at the fabric of our society. This comes down to values, and we are better than this. We are Americans! Please join AmeriGobble in keeping our communities clean. It makes for a better America!

Rick Perry!

Posted by Greenback Maniac on Sep 19, 2011

Rick Perry has got the Gobbling level up to a frenzy here at AmeriGobble, so we thought it fitting to nominate him for this weeks crazy, or crazy like fox edition.

Rick brings Rick, no matter what. He is not sugarcoated. He talked about the possibility of Texas seceding from the country he now wants to be President of after all. He called Social Security a Ponzi scheme! Sometimes it seems crazy, sometimes it seems genuine, yet here he is at the top of the Republican polls.

He is definitely a Texas politician no matter how you slice it. We’re still unsure if his no government is good government type of talk will win over the masses, but it looks like Rick has the base all lathered up. If he can parlay his national emergence into the Presidency, then he will indeed be crazy like fox.

Romo get’s it right this time!

Posted by Smitty on Sep 19, 2011

At AmeriGobble, we like a gutsy performance. And Tony Romo sure delivered one yesterday against San Francisco.

Not many guys in the league take more hits than Romo! He shrugged off the ones from the media and fans all week and the ones from the Niners D on Sunday! He and Dallas Cowboys brought there A game to SF. Even with a rib injury, he rallied the troops, threw some pretty looking passes and came up big with the long pass to seal the deal in OT.

When he is on and in a rhythm, he is among the best QB’s in the game. When he’s not it can get ugly, but at AmeriGobble we like players that can stand up to the criticism and then deliver. Nice game Tony!

What will be the lasting impact of the Solyndra failure?

Posted by Sansizzle on Sep 19, 2011

As details emerge from the Solyndra bankruptcy inquiry, the crew here at AmeriGobble have been Gobbling about the potential long lasting impacts of this story. Anytime an American company goes under it is a sad day for our country, especially with unemployment being so high. This failure, however, seems to have greater ramifications for the USA.

Remember this was all about green jobs. Well, a bunch of them just evaporated before our eyes! That, of course, is the first and greatest ramification, but let’s explore the others.

Can we compete manufacturing the clean technologies of the future or have we already lost that battle to China. Will we even be able to compete on the installation end of things? What role should government have in giving or loaning tax payer dollars to unproven starts ups? What is President Obama’s role in the decision to fund Solyndra and what does it say about his business acumen. How will this story impact the upcoming elections? Can green manufacturing survive in the USA without government subsidies and low wages?

This story is making our heads spin here at AmeriGobble! What’s your take on the lasting impact of this story?

Obama finally plays hard ball with the GOP! But…

Posted by Greenback Maniac on Sep 19, 2011

Obama finally plays hard ball with the GOP! But, can a deficit agreement ever be reached with the current cast of legislators in office?

President Obama has finally changed strategies. Demand something in return for something else, just like the GOP leadership does. Tax increases for millionaires in exchange for spending cuts. That’s the only way things seem to get done in Washington these days. The GOP has, with just a House majority, set the rules for this game of chicken and now Obama has upped the ante instead of giving in like he has done to recent GOP demands.

At AmeriGobble we have been wondering if the current cast of characters will ever resolve the budget / deficit / debt debate. Both camps are now so entrenched that compromise has never seemed so far apart. Or, is the budget and deficit talk all just campaign rhetoric at this point, with both sides realizing that no agreement will be reached until after the election?

Will sending a different group of rich partisan political hacks from either party to Washington even make a difference?

This fiasco is getting downright embarrassing and we deserve better!

AHHH! A summer meadow.  Looks like a nice place to be a Turkey! Thanks to the Gobbler in Idaho who sent this one in.  Absolutely beautiful.  Gobble, Gobble, Gobble!

What? We can’t compete?

Posted by Sansizzle on Sep 13, 2011

What’s the deal! The USA can’t compete with China in Solar?

News of the collapse of Solyndra, a California based solar panel manufacture, has got us really Gobbling over here at AmeriGobble. Even after a $500+ million dollar taxpayer loan, they still failed. Of course, all the experts and pundits have their opinions as to why, but the one theme that everyone comes back to is competitiveness. We can’t build it here as cheaply as they can in China.

You have got to be kidding me… right?

So are we just going to concede this industry too? We might as well literally start exporting jobs, like a commodity or something. Maybe even create a futures market around it.

That seems to be what we are hearing… and we don’t believe it. There has to be a way. The American way. We find solutions and create value.

What is really holding us back?

30 years of inflationary based monetary and fiscal policy. We have created a world where people actually pay well over half of a million dollars for a poorly built, simple stick frame suburb home by creating fictionary money via credit, stripping away the value of a dollar in correlation to its’ real value, the value of labor or goods. When you don’t earn the dollar you spend, you spend it more loosely, increasing the money supply with each credit card slide. That’s why things only seem to get more expensive with each passing year, even in a recession with less demand. Of course wages are high; the mortgage payment alone is 2,500 a month. Even with record unemployment, decades of inflationary policy have finally priced US workers out of a job.

And that is why the jobs will go to China! Unless we have a stronger dollar leading to a wage correction, both for executives/CEO’s and for manufacturing labor. We need deflation! We need to be able to buy more, with less dollars. We need to create value. If everything cost less to make here, then less could be charged to still achieve a profit and we would be competitive. A 25% tariff on all imports would be nice too!

See a happy balance. We can compete.

Texas Governor Rick Perry for President – Big Hat, No Cattle?

Posted by Greenback Maniac on Sep 13, 2011

Welcome to the campaign Rick!

The Presidential campaign season always seems to cause an outbreak of “foot in mouth” disease and with the Republican Party already going at it, Presidential hopeful, Texas Governor Rick Perry is getting a good taste of the Presidential Political vetting process. And it tastes a lot like foot.

From disparaging remarks about the Federal Reserve Chief to calling Social Security a ponzi scheme, Rick is learning the hard way. Foot does not taste good. No matter how much seasoning. And with all the debates and campaigning to come this should get interesting.

Perry rode into this campaign on a sterling horse, with his big hat, ready to save us all. What’s that saying they have down in Texas? Oh yeah, that’s right… Big hat, no cattle. Must be why he’s eating his foot.

Is Rick Perry really Presidential material?

He just won’t go away.. and we love it? How about you?

Posted by Sansizzle on Sep 13, 2011

Dick Cheney is back.. and yes he is growling!

The crew here at AmeriGobble can’t get enough of Dick Cheney. Every time he pops back onto the scene we end up with a good Gobble.

Apparently Cheney’s got a new book out, and we’re thinking of giving it a read. Kind of like slowing down to look at an accident. It’s just wrong, but hey it’s Dick Cheney.

We like Cheney’s ability to stay relevant. He parlays Crazy, with that Crazy like a fox snarl and keeps us interested whether we like it or not. We eagerly await more antics from Cheney as the presidential campaign get’s going.

Football is King?

Posted by Sansizzle on Sep 13, 2011

Sorry all you baseball Gobblers out there, but after this weekend we at AmeriGobble officially announce that Football is king of American sports. Now don’t get us wrong, we love baseball and cherish its’ uniquely American heritage, but nothing gets our feathers ruffled and puts us in a “Strut” like Football.

It is soooo American, you don’t even need the apple pie. Nothing seems to bring Americans together so much as this simple game. On this, the tenth Anniversary of 9/11, Football helped remind us why we are Americans. It brings us together to unite our passions for a truly American experience, creating a feeling and union much larger than the sum of its’ parts.

Football shows our cohesive strength, fortitude and individuality. No one else has Football
